Dhampus trek

In Pokhara, we did a mini trek from Phedi to Dhampus at 1700m. The first 400m was non-stop climbing. This trek is relatively an easy trek, and would take about 2 to 3 hours of climbing, depending on your fitness.

Getting ready for trek at Phedi

Up, up and away..

Phedi below us.

We passed by beautiful people in beautiful villages along the way. Most crops grown were vegetables, corns and millet  The people were extremely friendly.

Midway View towards Dhampus

Finally, hitting the Dhampus sign!!
Actually it would take us another half more hour of walking to reach our teahouse.

We reached our teahouse 'Panorama Point' for the night at 1700m. The feeling was great, having laboured for the last 2 to 3 hours!

Our room of two, small and spartan but cosy. Do not expect luxurious items like TV sets for example. The toilet and dinner place were outside in the common area to be shared with other guests.

The teahouse did however have some rooms with attached toilets and with hot shower too.

Our lunch..

In the evening after our rest, we walked to the villages nearby for a visit. We brought our toys and stationery to give away to the children. The kids were ecstatic!

Happy happy  :)
This family of a woman and 2 kids stayed in a very makeshift place of cardboard and zinc pieces only. She was cooking using firewood. One could only imagine how cold they would be at night. December would be the start of winter and the nights would get even colder.

The next morning we woke up to a breathtaking mountain view of the Annapurna Range.

The infamous Machapuchare or Fish Tail Mountain at 6,693m

View of Annapurna range right from our teahouse
After breakfast comprising of prata and omelette, it was time to trek down Dhampus.

Again we passed by beautiful farms and villages.
